Substitute Hosting
Andrew Tallman is the “afternoon drive time talk show host” for 1360KPXQ a Phoenix Salem radio station that broadcasts local and national evangelical radio ministries like Hank Hanagraff, James Dobson, R.C. Sproul and Mark Martin. We overlapped with him when he came to KPXQ so we got to know him before we left the station. He used to teach philosophy but always wanted to get into Christian talk radio and he landed a job at KPXQ. Andrew is a rare personality. He deals with evangelical hot button topics and fields callers for two hours a day on his show. He does his homework and fairly and objectively presents all sides of the issues and challenges his listeners to think more clearly and weigh the evidence of contrary opinions. He knows who we are and what we are about and he invites us to substitute for him when he goes on vacation (along with other local pastors and radio hosts) because he is willing to acknowledge that in the grand scheme of Christian thought, the Orthodox Church has a point of view that needs to be put forth and considered. In the introduction to his program on the Orthodox Church on his “Denominational Tuesday” feature, he acknowledged that historically the Orthodox Church was the first Church based on “just the facts”.
So we hosted the Andrew Tallman Show on June 19 and stepped out on a long limb and decided to discuss “sola scriptura”. When we arrived we met Bill Davidson, Andrew’s producer. That's when I found the parts of Bill's beard he is missing. And this is us at the mics. A little more professional than the “Basement Catacomb Studio” at Steve’s house. (For our new listeners, there is a story behind the “Catacomb Studio”).
